Caregivers of those with autism, intellectual disabilities to get more financial support
05 SEP 2026

The Straits Times - Caregivers are being formally repositioned as a beneficiary group alongside care recipients, and the 2027 policy changes announced by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung at the Home Nursing Foundation (HNF)'s 50th anniversary conference put material money behind the reframing.
The Home Caregiving Grant (up to $600 a month) and the Migrant Domestic Worker Levy Concession (down from $300 to $60) will broaden eligibility to include care recipients with intellectual disabilities or autism who can complete Activities of Daily Living but still have significant care needs, alongside similar broadening of the Caregivers Training Grant and Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme. Eight new Caregiver Support Touchpoints will open across five aged-care providers and three Enabling Services Hubs.
HNF also launched Carers Hub to help caregivers navigate information and services, such as providing a caregiver marketplace for users to exchange caregiving-related items and for caregivers monitor their own mental well-being.
To mark the launch of Carers Hub, the Home Nursing Foundation signed an agreement with seven partners – Caregiving Welfare Association, Lions Befrienders, Methodist Welfare Services, Montfort Care, SG Assist, TOUCH Community Services and MoneyOwl – to exchange expertise and resources.
